A new holiday for the Trumpers

Watching President Biden give his speech in the Capitol commemorating that terrible day a year ago brought up a lot of emotion in me. It was a great speech. It was classic Joe. He spoke in terms that most Americans could understand. He made common sense points that shouldn’t have had to be made. He spoke about the details of that sad day and how even in the worst of times, something like this had never happened before.

The only takeaway from the speech was it didn’t matter a single bit. It did not change a single mind or a single vote. It only confirmed what we already knew. America is over as a country. This was a day that the entire nation should have come together and vowed never to have something like that ever happen again.

Instead, Twitter was full of “Let’s go Brandon” nonsense. I was reading one report on how gingerly Joe walked away from the podium or how he stuttered during the speech. Nothing about the day itself or anyone taking responsibility for it. Yesterday was the last best chance to denounce the events of that day and the person responsible for it. Instead, America wanted no part of it.

A Trumper co-worker said, “Give me a break; Biden is just politicizing it.” Another said, “It was a joke; everyone knows the FBI set up the whole thing”.

It confirmed what most thinking people already knew. America is a fraud, America is a lie, America is the root of most of the problems in the world. We are not a “force for good” but a force for evil.

This is not a Republican versus Democrat rant. I think the entire system is rigged and rotten to its core. The dark underbelly of America was released in 2016. The evil inside millions of Americans found a way to come out into the light. They had their vehicle to come out from the shadows and spew their hate in clear view of everyone without fear of being called out and ridiculed.

I have already written about my disdain for this country and what it truly stands for. In addition, I have written about my desire to leave this horrible place if I could. I hope and pray that my children choose a better place to live and spend the precious few years we are…
