Back in Time Part 2

Today as I looked back over past projects and notes, I saw a blog post I did about an old Ruby on Rails project. Now, I haven’t touched much Ruby in months, so I thought it would be good to refresh and share a bit about how I feel now about the project compared to when I first built out the application. The goal of this project is to build a skeleton MVP product for Ruby on Rails web applications. The following is a list of work that I need to complete in the application and experience in implementing those solutions. I hope that you find the information informative and exciting as I did when I first started the project.

This Rails application should include:

Looking back over the specifications for this project the task looked like a huge undertaking. However, I remember I had a lot of fun and learned a lot about authentication. Authentication would eventually be one of my favorite things building an application. Some of the basic errors, like routing could easily be found in documentation. Having the ability to look something up and knowing where to find it is something I have gotten better at.

New techs starting their journey with Ruby on Rails, I would suggest looking into Devise gem and check the documentation on different ways to use authentication, like OAuth inside your application. Getting this out of the way early on will help streamline your process later on in building your app by getting a more solid working web app ready. Trust me, your future users will thank you.
